More than 40 neighborhood and business/government teams will compete for the Cranberry Cup at Community Park.• Aug. 23 — 10th annual Tom Murray Cranberry Township Aquathlon at Cranberry Township Community Waterpark benefiting the Southwest Butler County Chapter of Habitat for Humanity.• Sept. 6 — Puppy Plunge. at Cranberry Township Community Waterpark; $5 admission.• Sept. 14 — Fishing derby, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Cranberry Township Community Waterpark; $5 admission. The park is off Route 422 in Muddy Creek, Worth, Brady and Franklin townships. The park office can be reached at 724-368-8811.• June 1 — 11th annual John Baglier Memorial Youth Benefit Fishing Tournament, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sponsored by the Butler Basscasters, trophies and prizes will be awarded to all participants for bluegill, perch, crappie and catfish.The event's $25 fee benefits Camp Cadet and the first 100 applicants will be accepted.• June 1 — Family fishing program, 2 to 5 p.m. All individuals and families are invited to this introductory program. You don't need anything to participate, not even a fishing license. All bait and gear will be provided.• June 13 to 15 — Moraine Summer Festival with Steve Wingfield, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The festival features food and craft vendors and daily entertainment, including children's games, a battle of the bands and sports competitions. All events will be on the South Shore.• June 28 to 29 — Pittsburgh Flying Disc Open, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The event will take place at the disc golf course at Lakeview.• July 12 — Butler County YMCATriathlon, 6 to 11 a.m. Compete in swimming, biking and running events individually or with a teammate.• July 19 — Moraine Adventure Dash, 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sponsored by Grass Roots Racing, this event focuses on running, biking and navigation in teams of two.• Aug. 2 to 3 — Regatta at Lake Arthur, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Activities include crafts, vendors, food booths, sailboat races, canoe and kayak races, hot air balloon launches, a classic car show and fireworks over the lake on Saturday night.

The park is west of the Butler County line off Route 422 near the intersection with Route 19, Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. The park office can be reached at 724-368-8091.Guided nature walks are every Saturday and Sunday during the summer.Guided tours of the restored gristmill are available from Memorial Day through Labor Day.June 7 — Paddling instructional clinic, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. All students, instructors and assistants must be members of the Three Rivers Paddling Club to participate.June 28 to 29 — Rescue Weekend, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The clinic will teach basic river rescue skills for boaters. Students will rotate through several learning stations and brush up on first aid, rope throwing, snag line rescues, boat-based rescues and wading rescues.Aug. 2 — Fly Fishing for Bass and Panfish, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. An experienced instructor and guide will help participants learn new ways to improve their fly presentation. The trip takes place entirely on the water and focuses on catching the smallmouth bass of Slippery Rock Creek.Jennings Environmental Education CenterThe center is 12 miles north of Butler off Route 8 on Route 528. The grounds are open daily from sunrise to sunset.• The center will host a series of outdoor environmental programs this summer. Contact the center at 724-794-6011 to register or for information.• Hide-N-Seekers programs are for children ages four to five and meet for 90 minutes each Tuesday from June 24 to July 22. Cost of the program is $2 per child per program. The theme of the program is "Let's Take A Look" and examine nature and animals that are native to Jennings.• Outdoor Adventurers programs are for children ages 6 to 8 and meet for two hours each Thursday from June 26 to July 24. Cost of the program is $5 per child per program or $20 for all five sessions. The theme of the program is "Flying Friends" and children will learn about flying animals and their ecosystems.For information, contact the center's office at 724-794-6011.
