The Butler County Courthouse was placed on lock down this morning following a reported assault just outside of Courtroom 1, authorities said.

Sheriff’s deputies were making a sweep of the courthouse seeking the unknown suspect shortly before 10 a.m. said Sheriff Mike Slupe.

A Butler Ambulance Service crew was called, who assisted a woman holding an ice bag to her face into the ambulance.

The brief altercation came after a 15-minute child custody hearing in Court Room 1, a court official said.
