As Butler School District prepares to reopen Broad Street Elementary School next week for 250 students from Summit Township Elementary School, the city has already changed the traffic pattern in front of the building.

Butler Mayor Tom Donaldson said new signs were put in place this morning changing the traffic on Broad Street back to one-way.

The road will only allow southbound vehicles between the intersection with West Brady Street and West New Castle Street.

This was the traffic pattern that was in place when the school was last in use, most recently in 2015, with buses picking up and dropping off students in front of the school’s entrance on Broad Street.

Use of the school became necessary when the water at the Summit school tested high for lead and copper, and the well water that feeds the school tested high for E. coli bacteria.
