Police investigate suspicious death

PINE TWP, Mercer County — Authorities have not ruled out foul play in the death of a 42-year-old man found Tuesday night at his home on West Glenora Drive.

The body of Brett Thomas Wise was found just before 7:30 p.m. in a housing development on the outskirts of Grove City, according to police and prosecutors.

“It’s a suspicious death,” Mercer County District Attorney Robert Kochems said this morning. “The cause and manner of death is pending an autopsy.”

Dr. Eric Vey, a forensic pathologist for the Erie County coroner’s office, was to begin an autopsy at 11 a.m. today.

State police are investigating but declined to comment on the case.

Kochems assisted police at the scene, but he, too, remained tight-lipped about the investigation.

However, he said that it did not immediately appear that a firearm was involved in the death.

A neighbor as well as someone who apparently went to the house to visit Wise found the body and notified authorities.

Mercer County Deputy Coroner Robert Snyder pronounced Wise dead at the house.
