Army Capt.

Ryan Caldwell returned to Fort Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska, after being deployed to Afghanistan for one year.He is a member of the 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division stationed at Fort Richardson.The brigade served in three eastern provinces of Afghanistan, where it improved roads, provided vocational training in construction and civics, improved and re-opened 29 schools, remodeled six medical clinics and improved three district courthouses.Caldwell, an automations officer, is assigned to the 425th Brigade Special Troops Battalion. He has six years of military service.He is the son of Mark and Diane Caldwell of Ormsby, Pa.His wife, Heather, is the daughter of Glen and Bettie Lamarca of Cranberry Township.The captain is a 1995 graduate of Smethport High School, McKean County, and earned a bachelor's degree in 2001 from Indiana (Pa.) University. He currently attends the University of Maryland-University College, Adelphi.
