DoubleTree Hilton renovations begin
MARSHALL TWP — Renovations on the recently rebranded DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel began last week, hospitality management company Prospera Hospitality said.
The work will revamp and modernize the hotel’s 189 guest rooms, 23,000 square feet of meeting and event space, and other indoor and outdoor areas.
In a news release, the company says the project’s first phase will add new bathrooms adjacent to the hotel’s atrium.
The building’s Legends lounge will close and move to the Lobby Bar as construction adding additional high-tech board rooms and meeting space begins in the Cranberry Hallway.
The company claims the hotel has the largest ballroom in suburban Pittsburgh, with a capacity of up to 900 people.
The hotel also will be appointing “lobby ambassadors” at different locations around the building, to make the work less distracting for guests. They will offer complimentary drinks and snacks, and will suggest hard hat tours of the construction sites.
The company says the multi-million-dollar project also includes plans for a new porte-cochere, a restyling of the hotel’s restaurant, indoor/outdoor pool, and fitness and business centers.
The new ownership group also plans to introduce new food and beverages, as well as additional amenities in guest rooms.
The project is scheduled for completion in May 2016.
The hotel was acquired by Elmpros Hotel LLC on Jan. 9 for more than $9.6 million, according to Allegheny County records.
