Col.
Kristina Kane, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kane Sr. of Butler, retired from the U.S. Air Force on Feb. 1 after more than 26 years of distinguished service.During her career, Col. Kane was stationed multiple times overseas and was assigned to Headquarters Air Force in the Pentagon on Sept. 11. Her final assignment was with the Space and Missile Systems Center, Los Angeles Air Force Base, Calif., where she was the Military Satellite Communications Wing director of operations support and sustainment. As such, she led a division that was geographically separated among three bases in two states with responsibility for acquisition logistics and sustainment of the $6 billion Advanced Extremely High Frequency satellite system and other military satellite communications systems in the Air Force space portfolio.At her retirement ceremony, she was awarded her second Defense Superior Service Medal for her work at the Space and Missile Systems Center, which culminated a long and distinguished career in the service of her country.———Army Reserve 1st Sgt.
Wayne Brahler is returning to the United States after a deployment to Iraq serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom/New Dawn or Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and the Southwest Asia Theater of Operations.The sergeant is a mechanical maintenance supervisor and has served in the military for 24 years.Brahler graduated in 1988 from Moniteau High School.
