BEREA, Ohio - Rookie wide receiver Braylon Edwards agreed to terms on a five-year contract with the Cleveland Browns, ending his holdout.

Edwards, the No. 3 overall pick, will sign his contract on Thursday and practice with the Browns for the first time, a person within the league told the Associated Press on the condition of anonymity.

The source asked to remain unidentified due to the sensitivity of the negotiations between the Browns and agent Lamont Smith.

MONTREAL - Three-time champion Andre Agassi defeated Jonas Bjorkman of Sweden to advance to the third round of the Montreal Masters tennis tournament.The 35-year-old Agassi, seeded fourth and seeking his first victory in Canada since 1995, advanced to face Nicolas Kiefer of Germany in the round of 16 on Thursday with his 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 victory. Kiefer, a semifinalist last year, beat Taylor Dent of the United States 6-4, 6-4.Former French Open champ Gaston Gaudio broke Danish veteran Kenneth Carlsen in the last game to win 3-6, 6-2, 7-5. And Montreal-born Greg Rusedski of Britain downed Max Mirnyi of Belarus 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (2) in a battle of big servers.

Rob McClellan of Butler, a professional at Olde Stonewall Golf Club in Ellwood City, finished in a fourth-place tie at the Pennsylvania Golf Association's 89th Open Championship at Sunnybrook Golf Club in Plymouth Meeting.McClellan, 25, fired a 3-under par 33 on the front nine to lead Mt. Lebanon Golf Club assistant pro Kevin Shields by two strokes and Totteridge Golf Club head professional Sean Farren by four.But a three-putt at No. 13 and a double bogey at 14 dropped McClellan and Farren went on to shoot a 5-under 31 on the back to win the event.Farren finished with a three-day round of 204, Shields second at 205, John Pillar Sr. 207, followed by McClellan and amateur Tyler Brewington at 208.Saxonburg resident Joe Boros of Treesdale Golf and Country Club finished with a total of 217 as did Butler's John Aubrey while Rick Stimmel of Wexford carded a 218.

PITTSBURGH - Center Kris Beech accepted the Pittsburgh Penguins' qualifying offer of $899,745 on Wednesday.Beech, 24, was acquired by the Penguins in the Jaromir Jagr trade with the Washington Capitals in July 2001. He has appeared in 99 NHL games in his career with Pittsburgh and Washington, totaling 27 points and 59 penalty minutes.Beech has played in 171 career games with the minor-league's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins over the last three seasons, getting 150 points and 319 penalty minutes.

PITTSBURGH - Goaltender Dany Sabourin signed with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday.The Calgary Flames drafted Sabourin, 24, in the fourth round of the 1998 draft. He appeared in four games with the Flames during the 2003-04 season.Last season, Sabourin split his time between the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers and the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.In 27 games with the Nailers, Sabourin posted a 19-6-1 record with a 1.67 goals against average and five shutouts.Sabourin posted an 8-8-2 record with a 2.22 goals-against average and one shutout in 20 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
