UNIONTOWN — Police shot and killed two pit bulls that attacked two women, leaving one badly injured.

Officials in Uniontown, Fayette County, say Kim Cherry and her mother, Virginia, were attacked around 10 a.m. Tuesday when emergency personnel received a frantic phone call from a woman screaming for help.

Police say they found Kim Cherry bleeding severely from a bite on her arm that opened an artery.

Officials say she was transported from a nearby hospital to a hospital 40 miles away in Pittsburgh, where her condition stabilized.

Officials say Virginia Cherry also suffered bite wounds.

Her condition was not immediately available.

NEW BRIGHTON — A state police fire marshal has been asked to investigate the cause of a mobile home fire that has left one person dead in Western Pennsylvania.The Beaver County Coroner has also been called to the scene in Pulaski Township, about 25 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.Dispatchers say the fire began about 5:45 a.m.Authorities have not said if the victim is a man or a woman.
