Sarah J. “Sally” Parsons Long

Sarah J. “Sally” Parsons Long, 80, of Evans City passed away Thursday evening in Good Samaritan Hospice, Wexford.

Born in Evans City on May 13, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Clair “Red” and Olive “Sparkie” Neese Parsons.

Sally was a member of the Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Evans City.

She had owned and operated the Heritage House Restaurant in Evans City. Besides the restaurant, she had Long’s catering until 2014.

Sally loved cooking and baking, and enjoyed giving food to her friends and neighbors.

She was a member of Evans City Fire Ladies Auxiliary, for which she served as the treasurer. She was a past Matron of Bethlehem Chapter 37 Order of the Eastern Star, Evans City, which joined Mars Chapter 124 and then Zelienople Chapter 485. She served as Grand Matron in 1999.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Janet Grindel; one grandson, Zachery Morgan; and a son-in-law, Richard Morgan.

Sally is survived by her husband, Roy Long, who she married June 25, 1954; three daughters, Sally Morgan, Shelly (Carl) Harlan and Cindy (D. Reed) Caldwell, all of Evans City; two sons, Roy S. (Barbara) Long of Renfrew and Dayne E. Long of Evans City; 10 grandchildren, Heather Dombkoto of California, Clinton Long and Dayna Long, both of Evans City, Sarah Long of Butler, Shannon (James) DelPrete of Connoquenessing, Jeremy (Lisa) Harlan of Ellwood City, Jennifer Harlan, Donald (Mary) Caldwell III, Denver Caldwell and Edison Caldwell, all of Evans City; 12 great-grandchildren; and two step-great grandchildren.

LONG — Friends and relatives of Sarah “Sally” Parsons Long, who died Thursday, April 20, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the A. Carl Kinsey-Ronald N. Volz Funeral Home, 328 W. Main St., Evans City.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. from the funeral home.

Zelienople Chapter 485 OES will conduct services Monday evening at 6:30 p.m.

The family has suggested memorial donations be made to EDCO Park, 140 B Jackson St., Evans City, PA 16033.
