Paul Edward "Ed" Hickey, Jr.

Paul Edward “Ed” Hickey Jr., 64, of Butler passed away at 2:47 p.m. Tuesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

He was born Nov. 21, 1950, in Bellevue to Cora Jean (Rogers) Hickey and the late Paul E. “Abe” Hickey Sr.

Paul was a member of the Faith Fellowship Alliance Church. He attended the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics before entering the U.S. Army, where he served in Vietnam as a specialist 5 CH-47 helicopter repairman in the 178th Aviation Co., 14th Combat Aviation Brigade.

Before retirement, he had been a truck driver with Frank Krebbs Trucking.

Paul enjoyed music, mechanics, auto body and construction, and he volunteered at the New Destiny Treatment Center in Barberton, Ohio.

In addition to his mother of Butler, he is survived by his wife, Renee A. (Brinker) Hickey, who he married on May 30, 1970; one daughter, Jacquelyn D. “Jackie” Armstrong of Butler; one son, Abe E. Hickey of Raleigh, N.C.; one brother, Dale “HD” Hickey and his wife, Karrie, of Butler; and several nieces and nephews.

HICKEY — Friends of Paul Edward Hickey Jr., who died Tuesday, June 2, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday the funeral home with the Rev. Chad Durfee and the Rev. Richard Jenks officiating. Burial will take place in the Saxonburg Memorial Church Cemetery.Officers and members of the American Legion Post 117 of Butler, the American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora and the VFW Post 249 of Butler will conduct military honors at the cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
