Eugene Edward Young
Eugene Edward Young, 85, of Slippery Rock passed away at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Butler VNA Inpatient Hospice.
Eugene was born Dec. 23, 1927, in Argentine, Pa. He was the son of the late Thomas Charles Young and the late Fern Florene Hogue Young.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Eugene attended the Muddycreek Presbyterian Church.
He retired from the Allegheny County Parks after 25 years of service as a mechanic.
Eugene loved horses, woodworking, toy trains and spending time with his grandchildren. He was also an active member of the Northwest Pennsylvania Steam Engine and Old Equipment Association.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Edith McCall Young; two sons, David E. (Ruth Ann) Young of Bedford, Pa., and Curtis E. (Linda) Young of Ada, Ohio; and five grandchildren, Eric, Emily, Kaitlin, Suzanne and Catherine.
Eugene was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
YOUNG — Friends of Eugene Edward Young, who passed away Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, will be received at the Muddycreek Presbyterian Church from 10 a.m. to noon Friday. Funeral services will follow at noon with the Rev. Matt Kail of the Muddycreek Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Muddycreek Cemetery.Arrangements are entrusted to the William F. Young Funeral Home, West Sunbury.
