RENFREW — The bridge on Meridian Road that crosses Connoquenessing Creek reopened Thursday morning.

Mike Mattis, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation maintenance manager for Butler County, said the bridge reopened at 10:49 a.m.

Work was completed by Green Acres Contracting, which is based in Scottdale, according to the company's website.

The project was handled through PennDOT's emergency call-out process, Mattis said. For that reason, he wouldn't be able to provide a cost for the work until Green Acres bills the department, which would occur after a formal inspection is completed to verify the work.

With that price still pending, he did not want to release an estimated cost.

The bridge closed after a wreck on Dec. 31. A semitruck crashed into a guardrail, pulling a section of it off.

PennDOT opted to close the bridge out of safety concerns, although the bridge's structural integrity was otherwise unaffected.

Mattis said his office had not received any calls complaining about the detour or reporting any issues with it.

The bridge carries between 1,000 and 1,500 cars per day.
