EMS mental health impacts discussed

CRANBERRY TWP — The Cranberry Area Diversity Network will host a presentation on mental health issues affecting emergency service workers on Jan. 15 at the municipal center.

The keynote presentation will be delivered by Jeff Kelly, executive director of the Cranberry Township Emergency Medical Service. The agency has itself experienced several losses from work-related stress, according to the network.

Kelly’s presentation will discuss the impact of emergency work on the families of first responders, the importance of self-care and of seeking help when needed as well as the long-term effects of trauma and PTSD on those in emergency service jobs.

The event is scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in council chambers. No registration is required for the free event.

Light refreshments will be provided and professional resources from the region will be represented. More information is available at: diversity@cranberrytownship.org.
