Winifred E. Smith, 89, of Marwood Road, Lund Building, formerly of Penn Township, died at 9 a.m. Oct. 30 at Concordia Lutheran Care.

Born June 28, 1918, in Branchton, she was the daughter of Floyd Elliott and Carrie Hall.

Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and also a former teacher in the Grove City and Butler school districts. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and former member of the North Naples United Methodist Church Florida. She was active in both churches.

Mrs. Smith was a member of the ButlerGarden Club, where she served as past president and now is an honorary member. She was a life member of the Emporium Chapter 101 OES in Emporium, a former member of the AAUW, a former member of the Junior Women's Club, and a former member of the Women's Western Pennsylvania Golf Association.

Mrs. Smith enjoyed golfing, knitting, gardening and playing bridge. She was a member of the Women's Club of Grove City College.

Mrs. Smith is survived by a son and his wife, Jack E. and Melissa Smith of Bristow, Okla.; three daughters, Mrs. Robert L. (Joyce S.) Brehm of Butler, Mrs. John C. (Carole S.) Dickson Jr. of Renfrew, and Sally Smith of Ashland, Ore.; eight grandchildren, J.C. Dickson III, Travis Dickson, Jefferson Dickson, Kelly Dayan, Scott Brehm, Elliott Smith, Megan Smith, and Matthew Smith; six great-grandchildren, Emerson Dickson, Eleah Dickson, Isabel Dickson, Alex Smith, Gracyie Smith, and Tyler Brehm, and by a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Jack E. Smith, who died March 11, 1996.

<B>SMITH</B>— Friends of Winifred E. Smith, who died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, will be received from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St.A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. J. David Panther, pastor.Memorial contributions may be made to YMCA, 339 N. Washington St., Butler PA16001 or to the donor's favorite charity.
