CRANBERRY TWP — A township man is facing charges after allegedly crashing his vehicle in a residential neighborhood last month.

Marcos Isaac Baldeo, 25, of Cranberry, was arraigned Tuesday for his involvement in the incident, which occurred June 14.

According to the criminal complaint, officers were dispatched to Autumn Hill Drive just after noon for a vehicle accident. They spoke with two passengers in the vehicle, as well as Baldeo, who allegedly was driving. A third passenger was trapped inside the vehicle, and needed to be extracted by emergency personnel.

One passenger was treated at UPMC Passavant for minor injuries, while two others were treated for “more [severe] injuries” at Allegheny General Hospital and UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, the complaint states.

Officers determined Baldeo was traveling east on Autumn Hill Drive at a high rate of speed when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road and lost control. The vehicle turned sideways and left the road, entering the front yards of two residences, striking a mailbox and communication box before hitting a tree.

Officers allegedly smelled alcohol on Baldeo's breath, and found his eyes to be bloodshot and watery. He also allegedly had slurred speech and was having trouble with his balance. Officers administered a number of field sobriety tests, which Baldeo allegedly performed poorly according to court documents.

The complaint states Baldeo was taken to UPMC Passavant for a blood test, which returned a blood-alcohol level of 0.139 percent, as well as the presence of marijuana.

Baldeo is charged with felony aggravated assault by a vehicle while DUI, misdemeanor DUI by combination of alcohol and drugs and traffic citations for driving at safe speeds and careless driving causing serious bodily injury. He was being held in Butler County Prison on $15,000 monetary bond. A July 20 preliminary hearing is scheduled before District Judge David Kovach.
