Owners of North Country Brewing Co. in process of buying Harmony Inn

HARMONY — The owners of the popular North Country Brewing Co. in Slippery Rock are in the process of buying the historic Harmony Inn.

Rumors had swirled in the small borough for months that the inn would close, and owner Gary Barnes confirmed earlier this month that he was selling the restaurant after nearly 30 years of operation.

North Country Brewing owner Bob McCafferty confirmed today he and his wife are in the process of buying the property.

Due to all of the intricacies involved in buying property and transferring a liquor license, McCafferty couldn’t say when the revised Harmony Inn would open, although he added he hoped it would be by September.

McCafferty said today he and his wife have a particular way of doing business, mainly buying from local farmers and businesses, and they plan on bringing their business philosophy to the Harmony Inn.
