Commitment demonstrated

Jesse Hines

“Don’t start something that you don’t intend to finish. If you committed to something you had to see it through,” Jesse Hines, 40, of West Liberty said of the best advice he ever received from his father and namesake, Jesse Hines, 71, of Slippery Rock.

Hines, the zoning officer for Butler Township, said he and his father spend a lot of time together. They enjoy hunting locally, and have been on several hunting trips together including bear hunting in Maine and mule deer hunting in Wyoming.

“I grew up working with him on our farm and continue to help with things there as much as he lets me. He taught me to understand the benefits of working hard and being committed to something. He has helped me get the property where I built my house where I now live with my own family. He helped me to get started with a rental business that has been very successful, none of which would have happened in the form that it has without him,” said the younger Hines.

“Of the time we have spent together; the best has been the simple time that he now shares with my own kids. For those things — thank you.”
