John W. Book
John W. Book, 63, of Butler passed away Saturday at his residence.
He was born Feb. 11, 1955, in New Castle, and was the son of the late James E. Book and Lydia C. (Grossman) Book of Slippery Rock.
John served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a police officer at the Butler VA Hospital for over 20 years.
He loved riding his motorcycle, fishing and, most of all, spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Leslie (Cook) Book, whom he married March 20, 1992; his son, Nathan (Katrina) Book of Butler; his mother; two stepsons, Bart Covert of Butler and Judd (Stacee) Covert of Butler; three grandsons, Cash Covert, Cruz Covert and Ethan Green; three sisters, Bonnie (Walter) Smith of Volant, Debbie (Clifford) Gettig of Hubbard, Ohio, and Tina (Dennis) Taggart of Slippery Rock; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; and his brother, Thomas Book.
BOOK — A private memorial service for John W. Book, who died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018, will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, with Pastor Jim Lewis officiating.
