Carl Samuel Bloom

Carl Samuel Bloom, 75, of Butler passed away at 9:50 a.m. Thursday at the Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Cabot.

He was born Nov. 28, 1940, in Butler to the late Samuel L. Bloom and the late Jennie M. (Rigaux) Bloom.

Carl was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Butler, where he served as an usher.

After graduation in 1958, Carl entered the U.S. Army for 3 years with 25 months of that spent with the Stevedore Company in Western France. Upon discharge, he moved to Denver, Colo., to work with the Martin Co.

He later entered college at Greeley State Teachers College, where he met his future wife, Karen Ann Ryder. They were married in 1963. Five years later, they began raising a family in the Denver area.

After Carl's graduation in 1971, they moved to Butler, where Carl began his career with the American Hardware Supply Co., Service Starr, from where he retired.

Carl is the last of four children.

He is survived by his wife Karen Ann; two daughters, Barb L. Bloom and her husband, Cliff Maier, of Campbell, Calif., and Bonnie L. Rodgers and her husband, Mark, of Bluffton, S.C.; four grandchildren, Kaitlyn Bloom Maier, Jonah Rodgers, Calvin Rodgers and Lucy Rodgers; and a number of nieces and nephews.

BLOOM — Friends of Carl Samuel Bloom, who died Thursday, March 17, 2016, will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St., Butler.Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. immediately following with the Rev. Erik Park of the First United Methodist Church officiating.
