Patty Cope Shimp

Patty Cope Shimp, 77, of Butler passed away Oct. 8, 2020, at Newhaven Court at Clearview, where she was a resident.

She was born April 4, 1943, in Frank, Pa., and was the daughter of the late Maynard Cope and the late Irene Everett Cope.

Patty was a member of Christian Church.

She loved cooking, sewing and doing crafts.

Patty loved music, especially playing the keyboard.

Patty is survived by her husband, Carl Shimp, whom she married Nov. 17, 1960; two sons, Dean Shimp of Florida, and Mark Shimp of Burgettstown, Pa.; one daughter, Mary Trimper and her husband, Graham, of Lake Elsinore, Calif.; six grandchildren, Calvin Trimper, Gage Trimper, Kirk Shimp, Jakob Shimp, Kayla Shimp and Brandon Shimp; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Cope of Oakdale, Pa., and Robert Cope of Hawaii; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers.

SHIMP — Friends of Patty Cope Shimp, who died Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020, will be received from 6 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 7 p.m. Monday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler, with Pastor Gary Smith officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1100 Liberty Ave, Suite E201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.

Due to COVID-19 state guidelines, visitors are required to supply and wear a facial covering, along with maintaining social distancing. Groups are limited to 25 people.
