Jack R. Arthurs, 98, of Butler passed away Monday, Dec. 28, 2020, while under the care of Newhaven Court at Clearview.

Born July 10, 1922, in Brook-ville, Pa., he was the son of the late Fred Arthurs and Beulah Vandervort Arthurs.

Jack proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy. He was the Democratic representative from the 11th District for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1971 until 1978.He retired from United Telephone, where he worked in the public relations department.Jack was a past master of Butler Lodge 272 F&AM, and was a member of the AASR Valley of New Castle and the Syria Shrine. Jack was also a member of the North Main Street Church of God in Butler.He served many local charities and organizations, and was formerly on the board of Slippery Rock University.When he was younger, he enjoyed radio-controlled airplanes, playing golf, and traveling and entertaining with his wife, Jane. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.He leaves behind to cherish his memory numerous nieces and nephews.He is also survived by his good friends and caretakers, Carl and Sandy Hilderbrand, and Joe and Pat Green.In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jane H. Arthurs, who passed away Oct. 19, 2015; and three brothers, Charles, Robert and Fred Arthurs.ARTHURS — Services for Jack R. Arthurs, who died Monday, Dec. 28, 2020, will be held privately by the family.He will be laid to rest at Butler County Memorial Park.Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Boylan Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Connoquenessing Township, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Development and Donor Relations Department, 1645 West 8th St., Erie, PA 16505.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
