FOP expected to endorse Corbett in Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH — The Fraternal Order of Police is expected to endorse Republican Attorney General Tom Corbett's candidacy for governor in Pittsburgh.
The union, which represents 41,000 police officers in Pennsylvania, and Corbett's campaign both have announced a news conference at FOP headquarters in Pittsburgh later this morning. The FOP release says the news conference is "concerning the endorsement of Tom Corbett" for governor.
Corbett's camp says he'll speak at the news conference. And the union says representatives from the Pennsylvania State Troopers Association — a union representing state police — as well as representatives from the state's police chiefs and corrections officers also will be there.
Corbett and his Democrat opponent, Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato, are both from the Pittsburgh area.
