Judith Grossman

Grossman

Judith Ann (Hook) Grossman, 61, of Prospect was loving, genuine, selfless, loyal, endlessly supportive, and a peacekeeper.

She was born April 7, 1961, in Butler, and she passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her loved ones. Shortly after graduating from Butler High School in 1979, she met her adoring husband, Marvin Grossman, whom she married on Oct. 23, 1982.

Judy was deeply devoted to her husband, her best friends — her girls, and her smart and wild grandsons. She loved vacationing with her family on the Outer Banks, and over the years spent many weeks at the beach creating memories with them on Hatteras Island. Judy was an excellent cook, known especially for her lasagna, macaroni salad and the Texas sheet cake that she made annually for nearly the past 40 years to celebrate her wedding anniversary.

Judy served her community through work at the American Heart Association, North Main Street Church of God, and most recently as the secretary of St. Christopher Church, part of St. Faustina Parish, where she was also a member for more than 35 years. Judy could always be counted on to lend a helping hand while working at the rectory, or serving food and organizing a raffle at the church festival.

Judy is survived by her husband, Marvin Grossman; her children, Melissa (Todd) Fair of Carnegie, Jerica (Daniel) Beattie and grandsons, Daxton, Julian, and Dawson Beattie of Evans City, and Mara Grossman of Prospect; two sisters, Mariellen Olexsak and Martha McClure; her sisters-in-law Stephanie Hook, Mary Ellen Spence, Dale Miller and Mary Grossman; her brothers-in-law Joe (Kim) Grossman and John Grossman; her Punxsutawney cousins; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Hook; her mother, Martha (Gresock) Hook; and her brothers, John Hook and James Hook.
