Lester L. Moore
Lester L. “Bud” Moore Sr., 82, of Chicora died Saturday in Butler Memorial Hospital of natural causes.
He was born Oct. 2, 1933, in Chicora, the son of Lester A. Moore and Dora E. Emminger Moore.
He was a 1952 graduate of Concord High School in Hooker and worked at Magnetics in East Butler for 39 years until retirement, where he was a powder core press operator. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Chicora.
He enjoyed hunting, gardening and being with his family.
Lester is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Burkett Moore, who he married July 26, 1952. He also is survived by three daughters, Patricia and David Stroup of Chicora, Karen and Joseph Macurak of Karns City, and Cindy and Mark Cumberland of Chicora; five sons, William and Cathy Moore of Butler, Ronald and Diana Moore of Chicora, Rodger and Katrina Moore of Chicora, Brian Moore of Chicora, and Lester L. Moore Jr. of Chicora; 30 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn McDevitt of Chicora; two brothers-in-law; and three sisters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and three brothers.
MOORE — Friends of Lester L. “Bud” Moore, who died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main streets, downtown Chicora.Additional visitation will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Zion Lutheran Church, 266 Zion Church Road, Chicora.Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, officiated by the Rev. Karl Schoch, pastor, and Lester's niece, the Rev. Kathy McDevitt Davis.Interment will follow at the Zion Church Cemetery, Zion Church Road, Chicora.In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Mary Alice Moore, in care of the Steighner Funeral Home, P.O. Box 250, Chicora, PA 16025.
