CENTER TWP — Locals residents with old stacks of sensitive files can safely ditch their paperwork at an upcoming event meant to combat identity theft.

Rep. Tedd Nesbit, R-8th, is sponsoring a shredding event at the Unionville fire hall July 28. Records management company Iron Mountain will have a truck equipped with shredders available for free public use.

Residents can drop off bags and boxes of files at the location from 9 a.m. to noon July 28 at 102 Mahood Road in Butler. Only individuals are welcome to drop off files, not businesses.

Stapled papers are acceptable, but not books, trash or magazines.

[naviga:h3]Stuff-a-bus to help backpack program[/naviga:h3]

Organizers are hoping Tuesday to fill a school bus with food for hungry children in the Butler School District.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the 300 block of North Washington Street will be closed for the first ever Stuff-A-Bus, a food drive in coordination with the Kid’s Weekend Backpack Program.

Organizers request nonperishable, single-serve products that require minimal extra ingredients. Items such as boxed macaroni and oatmeal would be acceptable.

The event will have a festivallike atmosphere. Face painting, music, volleyball, basketball, minute-to-win-it games will be available.

Donors will receive small free snacks from a concession stand in exchange for their donations.

The BookStop, a mobile Butler School District book store, will be present at the event.

Food from the program will supplement the backpack program, which sends children home with backpacks full of food on Fridays during the school year.

[naviga:h3]One-lane traffic to cause delays[/naviga:h3]

ZELIENOPLE — PennDOT officials are warning residents about travel restrictions on Thursday in the borough.

Starting Thursday night, drivers will see alternating one-lane traffic on Routes 19, 68 and 288 for filming on Main Street in the borough.

These restrictions will be in place from 8 p.m. Thursday to 1 a.m. Friday.

Motorists can expect congestion and delays in the project area, according to the advisory.
