Robert W. “Bob” Collier, 80, of Chicora passed away Monday evening at Butler Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family following a lengthy illness.

Born March 9, 1938, in Chicora, he was the son of the late John W. and Cora Coleman Collier.

He attended Karns City High School and retired from Indspec Chemical Corp. in Petrolia, following many years of service.

He was of the Protestant faith.

Bob loved, owned and enjoyed working on classic cars and attending car shows.

In 1978, Bob fulfilled his lifelong dream to own a house and property in the country. When he was well, you could find him working on his property and oil wells and enjoying country living. He worked hard his entire life, until his illness.

Surviving are his four children, Steve Collier of Chicora, Sheri Raffel of Butler, Kathie Hodgkiss of Chicora, and Kris Bowser and her husband, Michael, of Slippery Rock; the mother of his children, Joyce Collier of Butler; seven grandsons, Matt and Rob Collier, Nick and Ryan Raffel, Dan Hodgkiss, and Josh and Andrew Bowser; six great-grandchildren; his sister, Sylvia Edie of New Philadelphia, Ohio; his brother, David of Chicora; Bob's longtime companion, Margaret “Peg” Hartzel of Chicora; and Margaret's brother, Eugene Grantz and his wife, “Mickey,” of Knox; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Rick Collier.

COLLIER — Friends of Robert W. “Bob” Collier, who died Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora.A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday from the funeral home with the Rev.
