Gary L. Shakely

Gary L. Shakely, 72, of Butler passed away Sunday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice following an illness.

Born Sept. 8, 1943, in Butler, he was the son of the late Alvin and Evelyn McMurtry Shakely.

Gary was employed at Butler Armco for 38 years as a mill clerk.

He was a former member of the Sons of Italy and the Oakview Golf Club. He enjoyed golfing and bowling.

Gary was a former volunteer at Meals on Wheels and the Slippery Rock Food Cupboard.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Cummings Shakely of Butler; four children, Robert Shakely and his wife, Miriam, Kelly Reep and her husband, John, Amy Fifield and her husband, Robert Hiles Jr. and Anthony Shakely and his fiancé, Kay Martin, all of Butler; and one brother, David Shakely of Littleton, Colo.

Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, Andrew, Samantha and her husband, Adam, Brandon, Rebecca, Trevor, Garrett, Rachel, Cody, Audrey, Sophia, Dominic and Ray. In addition, surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

SHAKELY — Friends of Gary L. Shakely, who died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler.
