Ivan E. “Butch” Longdon

Ivan E. “Butch” Longdon, 73, of Renfrew passed away Saturday.

He was born June 7, 1944, in Renfrew, to the late Ellsworth O. Longdon and the late Claire L. Stevenson Longdon.

Ivan was a member of Meridian Presbyterian Church, where he and his wife, Patricia, sang in the church choir.

After graduation, he joined his parents on the family farm and managed beef, hog and poultry operations. Later, he purchased an adjoining farm, continuing to maintain a live stock operation. Ivan worked for a number of years selling agriculture machinery.

Ivan retired as a general manager at Pittsburgh-Butler Regional Airport. He was leader of the 4-H and beef clubs. Ivan maintained beautiful lawns for friends and other family members. He especially enjoyed working in his vegetable and flower gardens.

Ivan is survived by his three sons, Scott Longdon and his wife, Timmi, of Renfrew, Jim Longdon and his wife, Delisa, of Renfrew and Roy Longdon and his wife, Jen, of Butler; one daughter, Kelley Barbati, and her husband, John, of Butler; 10 grandchildren Adam, Jacob, Reba, Zach, Chase, Samantha, Morgan, Jordan, Makayla and Hunter; three sisters, Nancy E. Clausen of New York, Eleanor L. Cress of Renfrew and Miriam C. Kirk of California; three nieces; and six nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia “Pat” Longdon, whom he married July 19, 1968, and who died March 9, 2017.

LONGDON — Friends of Ivan E. “Butch” Longdon, who died Saturday, July 29, 2017, will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Meridian Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave., Butler, with the Rev. Stephen M. Franklin, officiating. Burial will take place at Butler County Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Meridian Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave., Butler, PA 16001.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
