Hilma Ilena Salamone
Hilma Ilena Salamone, 89, of Slippery Rock passed away at 8:29 p.m. Tuesday at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born March 13, 1928, in Monessen, to Bartholomew James McGinnis and Selma Josephine (Malmgren) McGinnis.
Hilma married Vito Salamone in April of 1964, and he preceded her in death Dec. 6, 2013.
Hilma was a homemaker and was loved by all.
Surviving are her three children; her daughters, Paula S. Sundell and her husband, Norm P., of Shelby, N.C., and Susan A. Salamone of Slippery Rock, her son, R. Mike Holstine, also of Slippery Rock; two grandchildren and their wives, Jeff and Angie Sundell and Eric and Paula Sundell; and six great-grandchildren, Caleb, Miriam, Anna, Lydia, Samantha and Abigail (Luke) Pier, all of Shelby.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Sebastiano “Sam” Bartholomew Salamone, and her sister, Ada.
SALAMONE — The family of Hilma Ilena Salamone, who died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, will receive friends at 1 p.m. until the time of service at 3 p.m. Monday at Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Jeff Sundell, grandson of Hilma, presiding. Interment will be in the Salamone family cemetery in Brady Township, Butler County.
