Robert C. Trofimuk
Robert C. Trofimuk, 82, of Butler passed away at 10:25 a.m. Thursday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
He was born Dec. 3, 1929, in Butler to the late Alexander Trofimuk and Viola (Smith) Trofimuk.
Mr. Trofimuk graduated from Butler High School in 1945, and he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in the 7/82nd during the Korean War. At the end of the war he was stationed in Japan and Germany where he served as a military police officer attached to NATO.
While in Germany he met his future wife Barbel (Hohnemann) Trofimuk. He finished his 23-year military career at Andrews Air Force Base in the inspector general's office.
He returned to Butler in 1969 and was a claims adjustor for the Hartford Insurance Co. until his retirement.
In his spare time he enjoyed coaching Little League baseball, football and also reading. He was an avid follower of Knoch High School football.
Mr. Trofimuk is survived by his loving spouse, Barbel (Hohnemann) Trofimuk; three sons, Robert C. Trofimuk Jr. of Butler, Mark A. Trofimuk and his wife, Cindy, of Wilkes-Barre and Todd B. Trofimuk and his wife, Kimberly, of Saxonburg; and several grandsons.
