The free Outdoor Discovery series at Alameda Park, conducted by the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department, will present a program by Playthings Etc. today and about “Animal Tracks” on July 6. Programs are at 6:30 p.m. in the Carousel Shelter. Call 724-284-5383.

Nautical Nature, the pontoon boat at Moraine State Park, operates cruises on Lake Arthur at 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. For reservations, call 724-368-9185.

Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528, Brady Township, will host Celebrate the Bloom! Summer Festival 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 29. Call 724-794-6011. Jennings is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and on weekends as scheduled. The trails are open daily from sunrise to sunset.

Moraine State Park, Muddy Creek Township, will host a “Heron and Kingfisher Paddle” 6 to 8 p.m. July 6 (reservations necessary); a “Muddy Creek Oil Well Living History Exhibit” 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 8; and a “Full Moon Paddle” 8 to 10:30 p.m. July 8 (reservations necessary). McConnells Mill State Park, Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, off Route 422, is open 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily except closed Mondays. Tours are available at 1 and 2 p.m. Call 724 368-8811.

Star parties sponsored by the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh are scheduled, weather permitting, at 8:55 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Wagman Observatory in Deer Lakes Regional Park near Russellton. Call 724-224-2510.
