Chiefs defeated in Seattle

SEATTLE — The Kansas City Chiefs missed an opportunity to clinch the No. 1 seed in the AFC Sunday night, losing 38-31 to the Seattle Seahawks.

Harrison Butker’s 29-yard field goal pulled the Chiefs within 24-20 early in the fourth quarter, but Russell Wilson extended the Seattle lead with a 2-yard touchdown toss to Ed Dickerson midway through the quarter. It was Wilson’s third touchdown pass of the game.

The Chiefs pulled within 31-28 on an 11-yard Patrick Mahomes touchdown pass to Demarcus Robinson with 4:36 remaining. Wilson responded again, leading Seattle on a 75-yard drive capped by Chris Carson’s 1-yard scoring run with 2:29 to play.

Butker added a 32-yard field goal with 1:20 left, but Kansas City could not recover its onside kick.
