Norma Oesterling

Norma Jean Oesterling, 89, of Prospect went home to be with her Savior on Friday morning at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Butler.

Born Sept. 3, 1928, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Edward M. and Nora E. (O'Neal) Dietz.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed baking pies for her family and much of the Prospect community.

She was a former president of the Prospect Women's Community Club and a past member of the Prospect Firemen's Women's Auxiliary.

She loved people and the greatest joy in her life was spending time with family and friends.

She loved her Lord and was not shy about sharing her faith and pointing others to Jesus Christ.

Norma was a member of the Homeacre Chapel in Butler, for much of her adult life, where she was president of the “Missionary Ladies” for many years.

Later in life, she attended Mount Zion Baptist Church in Prospect, until she became home bound. When she could no longer make it out of the house, she became a prayer warrior on behalf of others.

She is survived by three sons, Richard “Rick” F. Oesterling III of Waterloo, Iowa, Edward M. Oesterling of Mount Chestnut, and Gordon L. Oesterling of Prospect; a daughter, Chris A. (Wallace) Kendle of Miami, Fla.; three sisters, Madelyn Summerville of Fenelton, Mary Ellen Kerner of Hooker, and Donna Lawson of Butler.

She is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 23 great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard F. Oesterling Jr., whom she married Aug. 22, 1952, and who passed away Jan. 7, 2007.

OESTERLING — A memorial service for Norma Jean Oesterling, who died Friday, July 6, 2018, will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 2251 Prospect Road, Prospect, with her grandson, Pastor Ben Oesterling officiating.Cremation services provided by Edward L.
