Driver hurt in 1-vehicle crash in Adams Twp
ADAMS TWP — A woman was taken to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after her SUV slid off the road and landed on its side in a ravine.
A Chevrolet Equinox was traveling north on Myoma Road to Mars-Evans City Road about 1 p.m. when it slid off the road, said Curt Huffman, chief of the Callery Volunteer Fire Department.
Firefighters found the woman driver conscious and alert, but she unable to get out of the vehicle.
They spent about 20 minutes removing the windshield with handsaws so they could assist the driver out of the vehicle. She was taken by Quality EMS to a hospital with minor injuries.
The likely cause of the accident was the slippery condition of the roads since it had been snowing, Huffman said.
“The roads got so bad so quick. You’ve got to watch these curves,” he said.
Adams Fire District and the Callery department then cleared the area with chainsaws so the vehicle could be pulled out and towed away.
The stretch of road was closed for about an hour as responders worked to remove the vehicle.
