Walter R. Barnes
Walter Randall "Skeeter" Barnes, 73, of Spring Arbor, Mich., formerly of Butler, died Monday as the result of an automobile accident,
Born May 9, 1934, in Winfield, Pa., he was the son of Dixon and Anne Barnes.
He retired from Cooper Energy Services after 30 years.
Mr. Barnes was a member of the First Methodist Church of Fenelton.
In earlier years, he was an avid baseball and softball player in the Butler County Tri-County League. Later he enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Jackson County Horseshoe Club.
He dearly loved his family and his best friend Petey, his dog. He was a friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed.
He was survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Linda Barnes; five children, Walter (Connie) Barnes Jr., Kathleen Barnes, Sam (Kimberly) Barnes, Laura (Don) Schroeder and Susan Spink; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Dorothy Day; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Barnes.
