Robert G. Goehring

Robert G. Goehring, 79, of Sigel, Pa., passed away peacefully Wednesday at the home of his daughter, Sharon, and his son-in-law, David Zabicki, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. His loving family was by his side.

Born July 17, 1937, in Evans City, he was the son of Ralph Goehring and Geraldine Doutt Gillest.

He retired as an operating foreman for West Penn Power in Clarion, Pa., after a 40-year career. He began as a meter reader in Butler and was also a lineman. Bob did many electrical jobs on the side, including work for the Butler Fair.

For the past 15 years, Bob and his wife, Char, were snowbirds in Winter Haven, Fla.

Bob was an avid fisherman and enjoyed trips to Canada with friends throughout the years. He loved to hunt and his hunting camp in Sigel, Pa., eventually became the location where he built his home. He also was a lover of classic cars and enjoyed attending car shows.

He was a member of the Wheels of Yesteryear in Dubois and Brookville. He also was a member of the Elks Lodge 170 of Butler, the Loyal Order of the Moose in Winter Haven, Fla., and the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Clarion, Pa.

Surviving are his wife, Charolette Goehring of Sigel, Pa.; two daughters, Lynda Sabo of Butler and Sharon Zabicki and her husband, David, of Chicora; two stepdaughters, Charlotte Lokhaiser and her husband, John, of Butler, and Barbara Miller of Ruther Glen, Va.; and one stepson, Joseph Berry and his wife, Evie, of Sarver.

He also is survived by nine grandchildren, Chad Zabicki; Cody Zabicki and his wife, Kim; Chelsy Stimac and her husband, Josh; Jacob Sabo; Katie Lokhaiser; Patrick Lokhaiser; Clint Miller; Jessica Ferraro and her husband, Andrew; and Joey Berry.

Also surviving are his brother, Michael Goehring and his wife, Barbara of Pensacola, Fla.; his half-brothers, Bruce Niles and his wife, Kimberly, of Poland, Ohio, and Richard Goehring and his wife, Becky, of Henderson, Texas; his half-sister, Cathy Vogel of Washington, Pa.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death in 1993 was one son, Robert Goehring Jr.

GOEHRING — Friends of Robert G. Goehring, who died Wednesday, July 20, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev.
