LYNDORA — The Tanglewood Center, 10 Austin Ave., is accepting items for a book sale Oct. 15, 16 and 17.

The organizers will accept books, records, CDs, movies on DVD, games, toys and holiday items. They will not take encyclopedias.

Sept. 28 is the deadline to register for Wood’s Warriors Bowl-for-the-Cure from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 4 at Family Bowlaway Fun Center, 540 Fairground Road.

There will be raffles, auctions and bowling by teams. Proceeds of the event will be donated to the Western Pennsylvania chapter of the nonprofit organization HDSA.

The event organizers are Kiersten and Kierra, whose mother Melissa Wood of Butler was diagnosed eight years ago with Huntingdon’s Disease. This fatal genetic disease causes the progressive breakdown of the brain’s nerve cells.
