Raymond A. Somerville Sr.
Raymond A. Somerville Sr., 88, of East Butler passed away Tuesday in Allegheny General Hospital as a result of injuries suffered in a vehicle accident.
He was born on June 27, 1926, in Rimersburg, the son of the late Chester G. and Genevieve T. Mortimer Somerville.
Raymond was employed for 47 years as a steelworker at Butler Armco.
He was a member of the East Butler Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Sara J. Spaugy Somerville. The couple married on Oct. 1, 1962.
He is also survived by his 10 children, Raymond A. Somerville Jr., and his wife, Melissa, of Cabot, Gary Paul Somerville of New Bethlehem, Carletta M. Weichey of Butler, Jim F. Somerville of Herman, Keith E. Somerville and his wife, Delores, of North East, David L. Somerville of Rimersburg, Linda S. Busch and her husband, Ryan, of Wichita, Kan., Mary Beth Somerville of Saxonburg, Loretta A. Christley and her husband, Scott, of Butler and Donna R. “D” Pithers and her husband, John, of Butler.
In addition, Raymond is survived by his three stepchildren, Georgia A. Canada and her husband, Michael, of Altus, Okla., Earl D. Stutz of Dover and Terry R. Stutz of Butler; his 18 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children; one granddaughter; his brother; and his two sisters.
Somerville— The friends of Raymond A. Somerville Sr., who passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015, will be received from 2 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 6 p.m. Saturday in theMartin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler, with the Rev. Mary Kitchen, pastor of the East Butler Presbyterian Church, officiating.
