The Butler County commissioners this afternoon completed their meeting after recessing it in the morning.

Commissioner Bill McCarrier, board chairman, said Commissioner Jim Eckstein could resume his speech, which led to the recess.

Eckstein accused the county district attorney’s office and Children and Youth Services of mishandling a child sexual assault case.

County solicitor Mike English said Eckstein earlier had exposed the county to possible legal action talking about confidential matters.

Eckstein disagreed, but changed his speech for the resumed session.

The defendant in that case also spoke, echoing Eckstein’s comments.
