Butler senior basketball star Devin Carney has been named first team all-state in a poll of sports writers from across Pennsylvania.

Carney, who averaged 25.3 points per game and drained 73 treys last season, scored over 2,000 points in his high school career.

He will continue to play basketball at Duquesne University.

The North Catholic and Mars boys tennis teams will face each other Monday in the WPIAL Class 2A semifinals.

The match will take place at 3 p.m. at Pine-Richland High School.

North, the No. 2 seed, dispatched its first two opponents — Blackhawk and Montour — by 5-0 scores.

Third-seeded Mars defeated Carlynton, 5-0, and Valley, 3-2, to reach the tournament’s final four.

The winner will advance to Wednesday’s final at Washington & Jefferson College against the winner of Monday’s other semifinal between top-seeded Quaker Valley and Central Valley.
