Cherry Valley borough council has passed a budget with a deficit.

The borough expects revenue to be around $15,730 and estimated expenses to be $23,427.

The borough has $28,000 in cash on hand that carries over from 2018 to 2019 that will cover the deficit.

Derrick Henderson, council president, said the borough may experience small ups and downs, but has had a similar budget for years without a tax increase. There will be no tax increase in 2019.

“We have very few roads we maintain,” Henderson said.

“We use our tax or oil waste money to repair them or to coat them.”

Henderson said the borough has stayed on top of necessary maintenance.

“We’re good,” Henderson said. “We have our own unit, and we have (Venango Township) that we work with that has bigger equipment.”
