Hilbert Preston “Hib” Smith
Hilbert Preston “Hib” Smith, 91, of Sarver passed away Friday at the Good Samaritan Hospice.
Born Oct. 10, 1924, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Edgar Preston Smith and Mary Ann (Brittner) Smith.
He was the owner and operator of Smitty's Landscaping.
Hib enjoyed making beaded jewelry, selling under the name “Cherokee Hibb.” He enjoyed going to Indian powwows and selling his merchandise.
Surviving are his loving wife of more than 60 years, Patricia (Chisnell) Smith; daughters, Patricia (Barry) Blackburn of Sarver and Debbie (Rick) Hayes of Sarver; six grandchildren, Crystal (Bud) Stroup, Tiffany (Ed) Pemper, Clinton Hayes, Dallas Hayes, Travis Hayes and Emily (Evan Holben) Hayes; one great-grandchild on the way; a sister, Mildred Haney of Oakmont; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, including Kay Mainhart and Diane Vargo, who Hib loved as if they were his own daughters.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
SMITH — A private family visitation for Hilbert Preston “Hib” Smith, who died Friday, April 29, 2016, will be at the Fox Funeral Home, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. Interment will be in Lakewood Memorial Gardens.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Fox Funeral Home, P.O. Box 305, Saxonburg, PA 16056.
