UPPER ST. CLAIR — Five-time Butler Eagle County Amateur champion and Oakmont Country Club member Sean Knapp tied for fifth Tuesday in the 58th annual Pennsylvania Senior Amateur Golf Championship at St. Clair Country Club.

Knapp began the day one stroke behind, but finished with a 3-over-par 147, five strokes off the pace. Stan Namola of Connoquenessing Country Club finished at plus-eight, Ira Handler of Butler Country Club at plus-13, Dan Reid of Cranberry Highlands at plus-18.

Glenn Smeraglio of Lu Lu Country Club shot a 2-under-par 142 to win the event in a one-hole playoff over David Brown of Champion Lakes Golf Club.

In the Super Seniors (over 65) division), William Wigton of Butler Country Club finished 6-over-par, nine strokes behind champion Don Donatoni of White Manor Country Club. George Bilowick of BCC finished at 14 over.
