Chookie (Gerald) Bennetti, 90, of Butler, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022.

He was born in Butler on May 30, 1931, and was the son of the late Louis and Lucy (Manuel) Bennetti.

Chookie was employed as an iron worker for Iron Workers Local 3 for more than 30 years, and was the former owner of Chookie’s Lounge.

He was a member of the First Methodist Church, Zelienople/Harmony Sportsmen’s Club, Sons & Daughters of Italy, Slovak Club, Elks Club, and Marienville Sportsmen's Club.

Chookie enjoyed hunting, fishing, judging boxing, wine-making and turtle hunting. He was also the author of “Chook Book.”

Chookie was the beloved husband of Shari Bennetti, since their marriage on July 19, 1997; the father of Laurie Cannizzaro, Dana Bennetti, Laurie (Chris) Seesholtz, Ginger (Ron) Schmeider, Valerie (Rich) Benko and Jason (Britany) Hoffmann; grandfather of Adam Bowers, Melinda Padworski, Brendan Saylor, Jaxon Hoffman and Brenden Seesholtz; and great-grandfather of Brailey and Damon.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Bennetti; three brothers; one sister; and a grandson, David Gregg.

BENNETTI — A memorial service will be announced at a later date for Chookie (Gerald) Bennetti, who died Wednesday, May 4, 2022.
