Helen T. Kosar, 83, of Butler passed away Sunday at VNA Inpatient Hospice.

Born in Butler on April 21, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Teofil and Mary Vavro.

A homemaker, she was formerly employed at Angeloni's Cleaners on New Castle Street.

She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.

She is survived by one son, Michael J. Kosar, of Vienna, Va.; one daughter, Terrie Parsons and her husband, Michael, of Jonesville, N.C.; two sisters, Ann Thomas and her husband, William, of Butler and Mrs. Marge Gvoth, of Apollo; five grandchildren, Christopher Kosar of Vienna, Va., Leslie Kosar of Vienna, Va., Nicole Gibson of North Carolina, Robert Gibson of North Carolina and Joe Gibson of Butler; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph “Smokey” Kosar Jr., who passed away in February 2000; six brothers; and three sisters.

<B>KOSAR</B> — Friends of Helen T. Kosar, who passed away Sunday, April 15, 2012, will be received in the <B>MARTIN FUNERAL HOME</B>, 429 Center Ave., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Father James Dolan officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Michael’s Cemetery.The Bereavement Group of St. Michael the Archangel Parish will meet at the funeral home on Tuesday at 3 p.m. to conduct a Scriptural Wake service.Information also is available at www.martinfh.net.
