Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival is planned for 6 to 10 p.m. June 8 downtown and beginning at 9 a.m. June 9 and 10 at Cooper’s Lake Campground near Slippery Rock. More than 2,000 Jeep owners from 28 states and Canada are already registered to attend with their Jeeps. Activities include on- and off-site trail rides, a Jeep Playground obstacle course featuring a mud pit, Jeep Invasion street party, and Mystery Road Rally. Visit bantamjeepfestival.com.
Maridon Museum, 322 N. McKean St., is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays, except holidays. Museum admission is $4 for adults, $3 for senior citizens and students, and free for children younger than 8 accompanied by an adult. Butler County Historical Society will have a dinner and program at 5:30 p.m. June 7 at Tanglewood Center, 10 Austin Ave., Lyndora. Reservations are required no later than Monday. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. followed by the program for the evening, “Fire on the Water.” James Gindelsperger of Johnstown will talk about the Confederate raider Alabama, which sank more than 60 Union merchant ships before it was sunk in a naval battle with the Kearsarge off the coast of France in 1864. Harmony Museum, 218 Mercer St., Harmony, will have an Herb and Garden Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 9 in the Harmonist Barn. Museum tours include the 1809 main museum building and wine cellar and a neighboring early 19th century house, both built by the communal Harmony Society, and a Mennonite log house, offered from 1 to 4 p.m. daily, except when the museum is closed Mondays and major holidays. Fort Pitt Museum in Point State Park, part of the Smithsonian-affiliated Senator John Heinz History Center museum system, will be the site of “Artillery and Artificers” from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 9 and 10 and Aug. 4 and 5. Visitors can witness how artillerists at the historic fort prepared for cannon firings to defend the Point and learn how artisans like tinners and blacksmiths helped produce 18th century artillery. Children’s Museum, 10 Children’s Way, Allegheny Square, presents “Thomas & Friends: Explore the Rails” through Sept. 9 and “The Pigeon Comes to Pittsburgh: A Mo Willems Exhibit” through Sept. 2. Carnegie Science Center on the North Side will open the Lego exhibit “The Art of the Brick” on June 16. Because of the popularity of this exhibit, timed entrances will be offered every 15 minutes.
