William C. “Bill” Smock

William C. “Bill” Smock, 72, of Fenelton passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at 11 a.m. Monday at his home.

William was born in Freeport Jan. 23, 1942. He was the son of the late Charles L. and Helen Rummel Smock.

Bill had been employed by Pullman Standard in Butler until it closed, and later he became a self-employed truck driver.

He belonged to East Butler Fireman's Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to his camp. He attended Christ Community Chapel, Clearfield Township.

Bill is survived by his wife, Phyllis Bergbigler Smock, who he married in Kittanning Dec. 31, 2001. Also surviving are his three children, Lesli Berry and her husband, Doug, of Akron, Ohio, Steven Smock and his wife, Cheryl, of Emlenton, and Bethany Schoentag and her husband, Geremy, of Chicora; four stepchildren, Tracy Geibel and her husband, Eric, of Fenelton, Lisa Widenhofer and her companion, John Campbell, Joe Graham, and Mike Graham, all of Butler; two sisters, Rose Walters and her husband, Harold, of Templeton, and Marsha Smock of Lower Burrell; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant sister, Shirley Smock.

Smock — The friends of William C. “Bill” Smock, who passed away Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora.A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Paul A. Rihel, pastor of the Christ Community Chapel, officiating.
