Alison M. Kovac

Alison M. Kovac, 86, of Butler passed away suddenly at home Sunday.

Alison was born on June 12, 1927, in Ayr, Scotland, the beloved daughter of the late James McGivern and Annie (Kerr) Young.

Surviving are her daughter and two sons, June A. Kovac of Dunedin, Fla., David Kovac and his wife, Yolanda, of Boerne, Texas, and Michael J. Kovac of Dunedin, Fla. Her two faithful feline friends, Bandit and BlackBerry, will miss her devoted attention.

In addition to her parents, Alison was preceded in death by her husband, John Kovac Jr.; her daughter, Barbara E. Kovac; and her brother, Ronald Young (Maura) of Dublin, Ireland.

Alison sailed to America from her Scottish homeland aboard the Queen Elizabeth during the spring of 1949. She met her future husband, John Kovac, whose career in electrical engineering brought them to make their home in Butler. Even though Alison lived most of her life in the United States, where she attained citizenship, she never forgot her Scottish heritage, following closely the events of the Scottish National Party.

Alison also enjoyed traveling and made several trips back to Scotland and Ireland to visit family and friends. Alison was an avid reader who always had several library books within arm's reach and a follower of both local and national current events.
