Baby Pens player punished for streaking
SCRANTON — The captain of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins was charged with indecent exposure after a police officer saw him running naked on a downtown street early Sunday, while a second player was arrested for public drunkenness.
Nathan Smith, 26, of Mountain Top, told the officer he had acted on a bet, authorities said.
Smith, a center, was charged with misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure, open lewdness and disorderly conduct and a summary offense of public drunkenness. He was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.
The American Hockey League team announced Tuesday that Smith would be suspended for its second-round home playoff game Thursday.
Penguins forward Ryan Stone, 23, was charged with public drunkenness. It was not immediately clear what discipline he would get from the team, but the team said he would not be suspended.
